These S’mores Rice Krispie treats with Hershey chocolate bars, marshmallows and peanut butter sauce on top are so yummy! This recipe makes a big batch for summer fun or back to school days when you need plenty for a crowd or for school lunches. These rice Krispie treats are best when fresh if using the peanut butter sauce. You can also skip the peanut butter sauce if you wish to keep them stored for longer than a day or two.
These rice Krispie treats are made with just the right balance of marshmallow to make them softer and chewier instead of dry and crunchy like most other big batch rice Krispie treat recipes.

- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
Rice Krispie Treats:
- Measure rice Krispies cereal into a large bowl. Melt butter and marshmallows in a 6 to 8-quart stock pot over medium-low heat, stirring constantly to prevent scorching on the bottom. Stir vanilla extract and salt into the melted marshmallows, then remove from heat and pour over rice Krispies. Gently fold the mixture together until well combined and sticky.
- Wet your palms or a spatula with water and press the cereal onto an 18 by 13-inch half sheet pan fitted with parchment paper that has been sprayed with cooking spray or greased with butter.
- Sprinkle the additional marshmallows and halved Hershey chocolate bars over the warm rice Krispie treats. Allow to set for at least 1 hour before cutting.
Peanut butter sauce:
- Melt butter and mini marshmallows in a smaller saucepan, then stir in peanut butter, corn syrup and water. Bring to a light boil while stirring rapidly to ensure all the ingredients are well combined and smooth. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly, then drizzle over the rice Krispie treats topped with chocolate and marshmallows. Serve within 24 hours if coated with peanut butter sauce and enjoy!

Step 1: Measure rice Krispies cereal into a large bowl. Melt butter and marshmallows in a 6–8-quart stock pot over medium-low heat, stirring constantly to prevent scorching on the bottom. Stir vanilla extract and salt into the melted marshmallows.

Step 1 continued: Pour the marshmallow mixture over the rice Krispie treats and mix gently with a spatula until the marshmallows and rice Krispies are well combined.

Step 2: Wet your palms or a spatula with water and press the rice Krispie treats onto a half sheet pan (18 by 13-inch) fitted with parchment paper that has been sprayed with cooking spray or greased with butter/oil.
Why grease the parchment paper?
It can be difficult to remove the rice Krispie treats from parchment paper due to their stickiness. I have had the best success with spraying the parchment paper with cooking spray, but you could also grease the paper with butter or olive oil for a more health conscious alternative.

Step 3: Sprinkle halved Hershey chocolate bars and additional mini marshmallows onto the rice Krispie treats. Allow the rice Krispie treats to rest and cool for at least an hour before cutting.
Peanut Butter Sauce (optional):
Melt 2 tablespoons butter and 1 cup mini marshmallows in a small saucepan. Stir continuously until melted, then stir in peanut butter, corn syrup and water. Allow the mixture to come to a light simmer, while stirring constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Place the peanut butter sauce into a zip-lock bag and cut off a small part of the tip with a scissors, then drizzle the peanut butter sauce onto the prepared rice Krispie treats. Cut into roughly 30 squares, then serve and enjoy!
Storage Options:
These rice Krispie treats can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days if not coated with peanut butter sauce. If you do add the sauce, I recommend serving them as soon as possible and not storing them longer than a day or two at room temperature because the rice Krispies can begin to get soggy with the extra moisture.
A little Inspiration for your day:
Did you know that talking to yourself has many mental benefits including improved cognitive function? It helps to keep a busy brain organized and reduces stress if you can hear yourself articulate your thoughts. No, you are not crazy if you randomly find yourself conversing out loud in an empty room in an effort to remember an important detail. How much more so if you speak your prayers verbally instead of internally! Spending time in prayer that is spoken out loud helps to release an incredible amount of emotion and stress the body tends to bottle up inside. Make it a regular habit, you may be happily surprised by how peaceful and focused you feel afterward. ☺
