Ingredients needed for this green bean casserole: green beans, cream of mushroom soups, shredded cheese, ham or bacon, Doritos and butter.
Optional add-ins to spice up your green bean casserole:
If you want to make your green bean casserole a little more fun, I would suggest adding French fried onions, walnuts, or chunks of hard boiled egg. Some like to add Mushrooms or freshly shredded cheeses to their green bean casserole and I believe they would be delicious in this casserole as well!

Step 1: For fresh or partially steamed green beans: Steam for around 5-10 minutes depending on how crunchy you prefer them. Place the green beans into a large mixing bowl and combine with cream of soups, seasonings, ham or bacon and shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 2-3: Spread the green bean mixture into a 9 by 13 inch baking dish, then bake the green bean casserole in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until the casserole is heated through and the green beans are softened to your preference. Combine melted butter and crushed Doritos (or keep the crushed Doritos plain), then top the green bean casserole with the Dorito mixture.

Serve and enjoy! See below for a list of main dishes and other sides you may enjoy with this fun Dorito green bean casserole.
Some main dishes and sides to pair with green bean casserole:
- Easy 3 ingredient slow cooker pork chops and sauerkraut
- Smothered pork chops in the crockpot
- Family favorite sweet potato casserole
- Amish sweet potato patties
- Slow cooker funeral potatoes
- Family favorite meatloaf
- Pineapple citrus glazed ham
- The best crockpot barbequed chicken
Storage and prep ahead notes for this green bean casserole:
The crushed Doritos do not stay crispy for very long. I would suggest prepping the green bean casserole and the crushed Dorito mixture separately (if prepping ahead of time) then compiling them after the green beans are baked and right before you are ready to serve them. If you just really hate soggy Doritos and you have a lot of leftovers, you can always scrape off the old Doritos and crush up a batch of fresh Dorito chips to top the casserole after reheating. Adding melted butter to the chips is optional.
